West Tisbury

West Tisbury is the Island’s farm town — stone walls, hayfields, and Alley’s General Store, trading on State Road since the 1850s. The Grange Hall and the Agricultural Fair anchor the year, and the farmers’ market draws the whole Island on a Saturday morning. Homes for sale sit on larger lots than down-Island, often wooded or on open field, with more privacy per dollar than anywhere but up-Island proper. Lambert’s Cove Beach faces Vineyard Sound and has some of the warmest swimming on the Island; Long Point and the Mill Pond are minutes away. West Tisbury is quiet, deliberately so, and has long drawn writers, painters and people who want land around them.
